RVA Online: Community Life
No matter where you are in the world, you are a part of us.
Now more than ever, we recognize the value of the relational network connecting our RVA community. We look to each other to be speakers of truth and affirmation, to help carry hope and grief, and for timely reminders to fix our eyes on Christ.
One of the best qualities of life at RVA is how we take care of each other. Even from a distance, we’re committed to upholding this community.
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity” (Proverbs 17:17).
Each dorm will continue to foster relationships and community in a variety of ways, including:
- Weekly dorm meetings and connection points during term. This might include videos, dorm Bible studies, WhatsApp or Facebook groups, video chatting, or devotional reading plans.
- Individual communication and discipleship between dorm parents and students.
- Dorm parents serving as resources and advocates for students navigating online classes.
- Dorm parents upholding families in prayer, and serving as a support and a resource for parents.
We will continue to cultivate growth and spiritual vibrancy through weekly chapels and connection points, as well as student-staff mentoring relationships.
Our counseling department exists to serve our students. RVA’s counselor-in-residence, Amanda Fielder, will be available for online distance counseling. Please email [email protected] with questions, needs, or to set up an appointment for the coming term.
RVA’s Student Health team will offer telemedicine services via email, WhatsApp, or phone. This includes prescriptions for students with chronic illnesses, or medical advice for students in remote locations. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
Class sponsors will maintain a connection point for conversations and social activities. Classes might choose to create forums for updates and prayer requests, or host activities such as virtual class talent nights or photo scavenger hunts.
