Alumni Weekend 2017: Friday, 7 July – Monday, 10 July
Contact RVA at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
During the last weekend of each school year, RVA hosts an Alumni Weekend on campus for every alumnus and alumnae able to make the trip back to Kenya. This is a special time for us as a school to reconnect with former students, for you to reconnect with old friends and classmates, and for our current students to experience first-hand some of the rich history that makes RVA such a special place. We hope that each of you will have the opportunity to attend at least one Alumni Weekend, if not more. You are most welcome.
If you are considering attending Alumni Weekend this year, here are a few things to be aware of as you make travel plans.
- Alumni Weekend officially begins at 2:00pm on Friday, 7 July and ends at 2:00pm on Monday, 10 July.
- Our Alumni Weekend coordinator is happy to arrange housing for you on campus for that weekend if you register in advance. If you choose to make your own housing arrangements with any of our current staff, please remember that prior to and after Alumni Weekend you will need to arrange accommodations off campus.
- Your housing arrangements will be in staff homes or available houses. Alumni will not be housed with friends/siblings in dorms.
- During registration upon arrival at RVA, please sign up for return transportation if needed. RVA will operate a bus transporting alumni back to Mayfield Guest House in Nairobi on Monday, 10 July. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Due to the number of alumni and varied arrival times, RVA will not be able to provide transportation to campus on Friday.)
We look forward to your arrival and can’t wait to connect with you again.
“What’s your dream, and to what corner of the missions world will it take you?”
“The key to entering well is leaving well.”
Hopefully your transition process is going well. This doesn’t mean it won’t be difficult, confusing, or even painful at times; all of this is normal. Remember that everyone goes through transition––at differing rates, degrees, and intensity––but everyone goes through it. You’re not alone, nor are you odd; you’re in transition.
Below are downloadable files of the handouts from your senior transition seminar. Please make use of them as often as you need. Start with the Transition Model and the Transition Experience. Try to get a grasp on where you are in the process. Remember that this process can take many months, so if you’re well into your first year of college and thought you were fine, but now find yourself inexplicably emotional or confused, please don’t worry. Use these tools, talk to others, and soon you’ll feel settled again.
We’re praying for you and trusting God to lead you in this exciting new chapter in your story.

Alumni Transcript Requests
Alumni in North America:
Former students of RVA from the Class of 2016 and prior may request transcripts from the Association of Christian Schools International in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Email ACSI directly at email@example.com or visit the Transcript Depository on ACSI’s website: www.acsi.org/interest/international/international-school-transcript-depository.
Alumni outside of North America:
Students outside of North America should contact RVA directly.
Many institutions are beginning to accept transcripts sent as a PDF email attachment. If this is acceptable to the college or employer you are working with, please send us the appropriate email address, and we will send the required document.
Official, sealed transcripts:
We will prepare an official, sealed transcript if needed. We will try to catch someone to carry it to the US for mailing. In some situations, we will mail the transcript from Kenya. Expect this to take 2 to 4 weeks (or longer).
All graduating students are given a diploma and an unofficial transcript. An official transcript is sent to the college of their choice. The graduates also receive the contact information for the ACSI depository mentioned above.
*Please note that RVA does not hold on to graduated students’ medical records for longer than 5 years.
